WHAT ARE SLEW DRIVES?
Slew Drives commonly referred to as Slewing Gear, Slew Bearings, Worm Gears, or Worm Drives is a complete, ready to install system that consists of a ball or roller slewing ring bearing, drive train, and completely enclosed housing. It can be customized with hydraulic or electric motors, brakes, planetary gearboxes, corrosion protection, as well as many other options.
IMO USA Slew Drives decreases costs by replacing complex in-house systems in machines that rotate heavy loads and require functionality and innovation. Each has an unlimited slewing angle and range, move smoothly and jolt-free, no slip-stick effect Stick-Slip Effect > Causes > Solutions (2021), and provide the most efficient transmission of high power and torque possible. Our Slew Drives are entirely enclosed and sealed housing withstands harsh environments and increases safety.
As a ready-for-installation system module, they replace countless individual parts. Slew drives are utilized for aerial platforms, defense technology, public transportation, forestry machine sectors, solar trackers, and many more.

HOW ARE SLEW DRIVES CONSTRUCTED?
WD-L or WD-H WORM GEAR SLEW DRIVE?
WD-L is a light series slew drive including a ball slewing bearing (one or two rows) and one or two worms acting on one worm wheel. It is the first choice in light applications like mobile equipment, forklift rotators, turntables handling equipment, boom rotating devices.
WD-H is a heavy-duty series slew drive comprising a two-race roller bearing for higher capacity and one or two worms acting upon one wheel yielding maximum torque at the smallest size and weight. Typical applications are steering gears for heavy transportation, rock drill rigs, tilt rotators attached to excavators, and antenna drives. If space is not a limitation, a WD-L slew drive may be used which would be larger in width (diameter) and would have an increased weight compared with a WD-H worm drive of a comparable output torque and moment load capacity. However, the total height of the WD-L drive would be smaller than a WD-H unit.
